In over 45 years, I have never done a painting of my husband...maybe a small one when I was in college? I've done sketches and drawings of him and I do have a portrait of him done many years ago, but it was an abstract and his head is a sailboat. I wanted to do a painting that would capture the essence of this guy I have known for so long. He agreed to sit for a few minutes the other day before he went on one of his bike rides  so he's dressed for the ride with sunglasses and other gear.  The sofa was a wedding present to us from his grandmother, Frannie. We have had it with us for over 40 years. It has to be the most uncomfortable seat in the house, but still love it!
