Each year we put in a small garden. I plot on graph paper where all the seeds/plants will go and add soil amendments in preparation for the season.Charlie good about pulling weeds and trimming overhead redwood branches. I even added a compost bin this year where fungus, bacteria and invertebrates are working their magic. Although this was a semi-abundant year of zucchini and tomatoes, digging in the dirt is a very comforting, healing experience.

My oldest son took me out on a sailing excursion in San Francisco Bay recently. It was cold and foggy, but had a great time sailing under the Golden Gate Bridge (through the "potato patch"), around Alcatraz and back to Pier 39. This is a painting of a few of the boats in the marina...no sea lions, but did see a few sunning on the docks.
It's the end of summer...one of my favorite seasons even in the heat. The intent of this painting was to portray a summer experience playing with the light and the illusion of water.
