My husband and I visited the island of Oahu last summer. We wanted to see Pearl Harbor, hike to the top of Diamond Head and take a few minutes to see the famous beaches of Wakiki. I had already made up my mind that it would be too crowded, too commercial and I would not want to linger. It turned out to be an amazing place. I felt how connected we are being drawn to sand and water. I loved looking at all the different people, the sun sparkled water, trees, floats, surfboards and boats! I pulled out my watercolors to do a few preliminary pieces and came up with a sketch on the plane ride home. Wakiki is on my list to visit again. There is an extraordinary amount of energy there. Combined with a diverse group of people, it is ripe with subjects for anyone looking to be inspired.
