I thought I would create a page just for the month of February because in the midst of winter, Valentines Day has always been a bit of sunshine for me (also my birth month so cake and candles can make the bleakest day look pretty good!). Every time Valentines rolls around, I think of my Mom's tradition of making all her children some sort of card to tell us how much she loved us. We usually got them with our breakfast on February 14th. She used doilies, tissue paper and ribbon and whatever else she could find. I saved most of them. In my adult years, I would tuck them in my cookbooks. January 2012 she died. That February rolled around and I knew the days of getting her special homemade remembrances were over...but I pulled out an old cookbook and a piece of paper drifted out and landed on the floor. I'll never forget picking that paper up, turning it over to find one of her valentines. I was grieving her loss, but she still spoke to me from afar. This page is a little tribute to all those homemade valentines out there and to my mom. As she use to say "It's a good excuse to tell someone you love them".
2022 Valentines by Children
In the spirit of making these little tokens of love and remembrance, I thought it might be fun to share some children's work. I'll post as they come in. Thanks to all who participate!
